Seriously Cool Hair For The Working Girl

On October 21, 2016 by Lissa Logan

Remember this famous quote from the movie, Working Girl? “You wanna be taken seriously, you need serious hair.”

Well, hairstyle and color may not be an accurate judge of character, but it does influence how you are perceived in the workplace.

Take a look at how attitudes have changed over the years.

Blonde: Traditionally stereotyped as flighty and er, not very intelligent, blondes supposedly had more fun. Today, they are getting more respect.

Women such as Hillary Clinton have changed all that. “She’s a powerful woman, telling it like it is, sitting down with heads of state from all over the world. I don’t know how much fun she’s having,” says Franco Della Grazia, senior stylist at Cutler Salon in NYC, “but she’s being taken seriously.”

Redheads: In the work place, redheads are seen as strong, passionate, and goal-oriented individuals who get the job done.

Curly Hair: Those with sleek strands are viewed as efficient, curly hair is seen as risk-taking. With curly hair, though, keep it well coifed so that it doesn’t upstage you or your talents.

No matter what your color or style, one statement that doesn’t work is grown out color! Can you guess the message it sends?

It’s important that your hair reflect your personality. Dressing for the job is important, but styling your hair for it doesn’t hurt either! And that’s where we come in.
